Letter From the President

Patricia Q. Garcia, CAVS

Dear TADVS Membership:

Thank you for saying ‘yes’ with me to TADVS as we journey in advancing our professional development for our friends, colleagues, healthcare across the state and as a best practice organization for the country! We will accomplish this journey together as a TADVS team.

Leveraging the Impact of Volunteer Resources is the theme selected for this year as I believe we are in a daily pursuit of this goal whether we work in rural or suburban hospital healthcare systems. Carefully reflect on the dissection of the theme as noted below and your role in making this happen as you are the administrators, directors, managers and key coordinators at your hospital and healthcare care system.

  • Leverage - use (something) to maximum advantage.
  • Impact - have a strong effect on someone or something.
  • Volunteer -a person who freely offers to take part in an enterprise or undertake a task.
  • Resources - a stock or supply of money, materials, staff, and other assets that can be drawn on by a person or organization in order to function effectively.

TADVS will serve you by sharing our expertise, exploration, networking and celebration of ‘leveraging the impact of volunteer resources’ best practices which already exist in our great state of Texas.

We will become the preferred professional development organization in healthcare to our membership by honing in our leadership capabilities.

We have a responsibility to be the master storytellers of what our profession delivers daily to positively impact the patient experience!

We cannot expect another profession to tell the stories we know and own.

Let me hear from you – I want to hear about your best practice and how TADVS can better serve your needs.

Again, thank you for responding to the call of meaningful leadership!
