Vicki Holcombe Baptist Southeast Texas shared this update

We're all so much more blessed than many people.  I've been at hospital with team that is part of disaster process.  Brandi and my gift shop manager were
able to come in briefly early in the week, but we're now functioning with minimal staff as we evacuate patients.  Personally, we're all good.

Herbert Looney- Methodist Stone Oak Hospital

On Thursday, August 24th, we activated the local command center which involved 6 hospitals in the Methodist System in and around San Antonio.  At that time, we didn’t know where the storm would land or where it would go inland so all preparations centered around getting staff here safely and housing them when they came in.  The volunteers were asked to be prepared to help in the NICU and nursery.  As the storm landed we shifted from local damage control to being ready to receive any evacuees from the coast including Corpus Christi, Rockport, or Port Aransas.  By Saturday we had received 4 babies in our NICU from Victoria and Corpus Christi.  Four of our volunteers (one senior, one college age, and 2 juniors) jumped in and helped both Saturday and Sunday in the NICU.  Our work was essentially complete on Monday, August 28th, and we are standing by for any evacuees arriving from the Houston Area.  The response from the volunteers was terrific.

Our command center is still activated and we are in a Code Gray alert waiting for any new developments that might require our volunteers to step in and give the nursing staff any administrative help they may need.
